MATADOR, BiFi, and Peperami.Job DescriptionThe Plant Engineering
Manager is responsible for the engineering and maintenance
organization at the Perry, GA plant. This role will provide
critical technical leadership for major capital projects and ensure
the plant team has solutions (project and maintenance) needed to
drive safety, quality and performance plans. The Plant Engineering
Manager will be the onsite engineer representing Jack Link s
throughout the entire construction and commissioning phase of the
greenfield building project.The Plant Engineering Manager is also a
member of the site leadership team and will be expected to help set
tactical as well as strategic direction for the site. This role is
also expected to provide technical leadership support for the
Refrigeration System in the plant. In addition to this work, this
role will be expected to work with the business team ensuring
success of capital execution that will provide CI savings
opportunities.This position reports to the Plant Manager, but will
temporarily report to the Vice President of Engineering until a
Plant Manager is hired. There is anticipated to be 95 team members
that will directly/indirectly report to the Plant Engineering
Manager when the facility is completed.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESLeadershipDevelopment of site strategic plan for
technical staffing, capital investment, general competencies, and
system/technology improvementsCoaching, mentoring, and development
of plant technical resourcesAccountability for management of
external technical relationships with Architectural and Engineering
firms, contractors, and equipment vendorsProvide technical
leadership and site compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements in
concert with designated functional expertsProvide site leadership
to achieve maximization/optimization of capital assets and site
utilization as well as lead safety initiatives in technical
areasAccountable for key site scorecard metricsCapital Planning &
ExecutionDevelop short term and long range capital investment plans
for facility and be accountable for the planning and execution of
all projectsResponsible for the capital investment process for the
site (e.g. standards, project management, capital approval,
etc.).Project Execution/Continuous ImprovementDevelop and support
strategies that integrate Early Management (EM), Project Management
Institute (PMI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies into
the Master PlanProvide leadership for the application of EM/CI,
tools, and training to meet business objectivesProvide site
leadership for technical solutions to operational problems
including systems optimization, debottlenecking, and
troubleshootingAccountable for the strategy, design and
implementation of automation and control systems and manufacturing
information systemsEarly Management and Preventative Maintenance
pillar leaderOwn and develop site maintenance strategy based on a
framework such as RCM or TPMResponsible for building both
leadership and technical capability through use of standard CI
processes and coachingLead and drive department level
master-plan and scorecard ensuring connection to site
compelling business needsPartner with other sites to integrate and
drive site strategies, with heavy emphasis on Autonomous
Maintenance integration.Maintenance & ReliabilityCoach and develop
Maintenance and Facilities Manager to integrate Maintenance into
the CI CultureProvide strategy and support for maintenance
foundations, programs, development of tools and resources,
personnel selection, training and developmentIntegrate Maintenance
into the strategy for the broader technical community at the
plantEnsure the proper selection, training, development and
motivation of leaders to maximize current and future
performanceQualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor
s degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited Engineering
program7-10 years engineering leadership experience minimum; 10+
years preferredFood industry experience is preferredMinimum of 7
years technical experience in project management, systems or
process engineering, facilities management or technical discipline
engineering in a manufacturing environment with maintenance
experienceREQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES: Strong
track record of engineering aptitude, ability to apply engineering
principles and problem solvingStrong leadership skills, including
experience leading others in projects or programs, and the ability
to successfully interact with individuals representing other areas
or interests and the ability to manage team leaders and
mechanicsUnderstanding and experience interacting with multiple
business functions, including Quality, Purchasing, Distribution,
Human Resources, Finance and especially OperationsAbility to
identify potential business solutions involving a broad scope of
thinking across businesses and functions to develop new
innovationPrior experience with IWS/pillar structure and
integration preferredPrior experience with greenfield project
management preferredLean manufacturing, CI, TPM, Six Sigma
experience preferredRequired travel is minimal (
