This is a remote working role and the new hire can be based anywhere in the continental United States . Under minimal supervision, the Surgical/Multispecialty Coding Educator provides applicable billing, coding and related reimbursement guidelines, to include federal/state laws and regulatory requirements affecting daily business operations applicable to Surgery. This information is researched and delivered to Providers and staff in The US Oncology Network through face-to face communication, regular network publications, electronic and voice communications. Supports and adheres to The US Oncology Network Compliance program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Participates in the development and maintenance of reimbursement education materials, reviews data reports for coding compliance and provides and/or coordinates the necessary education. Must be pro-active, curious, and possess a thorough knowledge of Surgical Coding and Billing. Must have exceptional communication skills and MUST be able to speak to and relate to the Providers and staff in the surgical arena. This position requires a close working relationship with clinical and billing staff. Extensive knowledge of government regulations and applicable reimbursement laws and regulations required. Upon request, support network practices with review of medical record documentation, including but not limited to surgery specialties specific to gynecology, breast, colorectal, urology, evaluation and management and other services. Key Responsibilities: Educate and provide guidance related to ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding systems. Works with Providers and practice management to identify areas of opportunity. Research, prepare, develop and deliver coding material that will be presented to The US Oncology Network practice physicians, clinical team and billing staff via on-site, web based, and other methods of training. Collaboration/partnering with Revenue Cycle Management regarding payer related issues. Research related government regulations and policies. Develop and presents webinars monthly delivering education to The US Oncology Network related to surgical coding and annual coding changes. Conduct regular and on-going review of medical record documentation, for coding and documentation compliance. Minimum Job Qualifications 7 years of overall professional work experience 4 years of direct experience in surgical CPT coding for gynecology, breast, colorectal, and urology specialties. Education/Training 4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience Current CPC, CCS, or CCS-P certification or other equivalent certification Critical Skills Three (3) years Surgical and Evaluation & Management teaching and coding Three (3) years direct experience in coding, medical records and reimbursement Three (3) years' experience working directly with and training Physicians and staff. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Web Conferencing required. Current with understanding Compliance and Regulatory Guidelines, in addition to applicable reimbursement laws and regulations relating to Surgical Coding and Billing. Thorough knowledge of CPT-4 procedural coding methodology with ICD-10 and HCPCS coding. Instructional educational experience, training large groups Laboratory coding and billing are a plus, but not required. Strong technical skills including the ability to create educational presentations through PowerPoint, create pocket guides and tip sheets. Physical Requirements: General Office Demands Travel Must be available for up to but not limited to 20% travel.
