Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring GA or compact RN licensure and two years of recent med/tele experience. Responsibilities - Work in a large teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma and Chest Pain Center designations - Assigned to inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry units, floating to all med/tele units as needed - Care for a variety of med/surg and telemetry patients on units with 20–36 beds - Patient ratios are typically RN 1:4-6 - 12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P, with a 36-hour shift option - Required to work 3 weekends within a 6-week schedule - Holiday coverage required for either 11/27 or 11/28, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1 - No call or call back responsibilities - Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis for medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors - Primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive med/surg and telemetry nursing care to diverse adult patient populations - Required to float between all Med/Surg and Telemetry units as needed - Support is provided by CNAs, a charge nurse, unit secretary (7a-11p), discharge nurses, resource team, 24/7 RT, and hospitalists - RNs are responsible for drawing from CVLs; most phlebotomy is lab collected - Two days of departmental orientation plus one day for educational modules are provided - Scrub color requirement is navy for RNs - Free parking is available around campus, with optional paid parking decks - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Busy, team-oriented unit culture Requirements - Active GA or compact RN license - Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience - BLS certification required - Must pass EKG competency exam during onboarding - ACLS preferred - Experience with trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use is required - Competency with insulin and heparin drips, and ability to titrate drips to HR - Experience using Epic EMR preferred Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-631653.
