competency exam required during onboarding Description: Registered
Nurse needed for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. This position
involves caring for all inpatient medical-surgical patients.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-6. Support staff includes Certified
Nursing Assistants who assist with vitals, blood glucose checks,
bathing, feeding, and patient safety. A Unit Secretary is available
from 7 AM to 11 PM. Charge nurses and resource nurses are present
on the unit. Phlebotomy is primarily performed by laboratory staff,
while RNs can draw from central venous lines. RT staff are
available 24/7, and hospitalist and intensivist services are also
provided around the clock. The facility utilizes EPIC for
electronic medical records and Alaris for IV pumps. Common skills
required include trach care, chest tube management, peripheral IV
starts, and glucometer usage. Travelers will be required to float
to all Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units as needed. Certification in
medical-surgical nursing is a plus. The unit culture is described
