Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Macon, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,766 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: RN - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: State RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: CCRN (preferred), EKG competency exam during onboarding Description: RN - ICU position available. The facility has 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation. It is a teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center. The ICU units consist of 10-20 beds. Patient types include Critical Care Unit, Medical ICU, Surgical Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, and Progressive Care Unit. Patient ratios for ICU are 1:1-2, and for PCU are 1:3-4. LPN ratios are 1:4-6, with 1-2 CNAs per shift for assistance. Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer usage. Common drips managed include insulin drips, heparin drips, narcotic drips, paralytic drips, vasopressors, sedation drips, and cardiac drips. Support staff include CNAs assisting with vitals, blood glucose checks, and patient safety. There is a unit secretary on duty from 7 AM to 11 PM. Charge nurses and resource nurses are available. There is no dedicated phlebotomy team, but RNs can perform lab draws off CVLs. Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring systems. Travelers are utilized in a float pool capacity and may be required to float to all Med/Tele units as needed. Weekend rotation requires 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule. Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday. A busy, team-oriented unit culture prevails. Scrub colors are navy for RNs and ceil blue for LPNs.
