Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Macon, Georgia, 31201! Job

Description: The RN in the Progressive Care Unit will provide care
for step-down ICU patients. Common diagnoses include respiratory
failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension,
hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses.
Patients will be step downs from ICU and ER admissions. The patient
population may include those on chronic home ventilators with
static vent settings. The nurse-patient ratio is approximately
1:3-4. Certified Nursing Assistants will assist with vital signs,
glucose checks, bathing, feeding, ambulating, turning patients,
hourly rounding, and transporting patients as needed. The unit has
a reception staff member during the day and a house-wide call
secretary at night. Laboratory draws will primarily be done by
nurses, with select draws by a central vascular lab team. Resource
nurses are available for support, including discharge planning.
Respiratory therapy and hospitalist teams are present 24/7, along
with intensivist services. Telemetry monitoring is managed by a
central telemetry unit. The electronic medical record system is
EPIC. IV pumps and medication dispensing systems will be Alaris and
Pyxis, respectively. The unit is equipped with vital sign monitors,
glucose stat strips, a rapid infuser, PCA pain management systems,
and other specialized devices. Weekend rotation consists of 5-6
weekend shifts out of 12 within a 6-week schedule. No on-call
requirements exist. Holiday work includes one shift of each major
holiday. Requests for time off need manager approval. The
environment is described as busy, with an emphasis on teamwork.
