Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS preferred Must-Have: 2 years of
experience in oncology specialty Description: Travelers will work
on the oncology floor and outpatient area. The unit has 29 beds,
with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6. Charge
nurses operate out of the staffing grid, except in unusual
circumstances. There are generally 3 nurse aides per day. Every
other weekend and holiday shifts are required, rotating with staff.
Scrub color is Caribbean Blue. Central monitoring is available, but
it is not required to interpret strips. Floating to medical acute
is rarely necessary. Common patient diagnoses include acute
oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell
crisis, hematology cases, medical overflow, oncology issues, and
end-of-life care. Outpatient patients may complete their treatment
on the floor if delayed. Nurse aides are available for support. A
floor-specific orientation lasting three days is provided.
Cancellation policy includes 12 hours every two weeks. The charting
system used is MEDITECH. Requirements Required for Onboarding ACLS
