Hr Morning - Afternoon Northeast Georgia Health System is rooted in
a foundation of improving the health of our communities. About the
Role: Job Summary This position will support the southern campuses,
with primary focus on the Braselton and Barrow Emergency
Departments, and shared responsibility for the Gainesville
Emergency Department in collaboration with the other Educator. A
system/regional based clinician with accountability for specialty,
system-based, and outreach based education. The System Emergency
Services educator coordinates, elevates, and resolves problems and
conflicts as they occur, and facilitates resolution for regional
transfer hospitals. He/She provides continuing education both
formally and informally and is accountable for clinical staff
development. He/She facilitates and supports orientation
activities. He/she has expert knowledge of a specific and all
patient populations, standard clinical competencies, and workflow
processes. Acts as the content expert for all education provided
throughout the system, and to our regional partners. Leads and
participates in program development as it relates to the Emergency
Department. Works with emergency department directors to develop
and/or select educational opportunities for all emergency
departments. Proficient in providing and managing complex patient
care; implementing patient and family teaching; and facilitating
learning experiences for staff and students and assisting in the
orientation of new staff. Provides direct patient care as needed.
Assists other like units as indicated with educational needs.
Provides nursing involvement support for PNGC and the NDNQI quality
teams including coaching team members in their professional
participation. Participates in all service line based process
improvement by creating education as well as serving as an
instructor for courses required for frontline nursing staff. Serve
as a resource during accreditation surveys including but not
limited to DNV, American College of Surgeons, and various other
accreditation resources. Assists with overall clinical governance
and other projects as assigned. Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in
Georgia. Professional certification in either a clinical or
education specialty within two (2) years of hire. Educational
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of direct care RN nursing experience with a minimum
of one (1) year is an acute care facility. Other: Professional
organization membership within one month of hire into the role.
Preferred Job Qualifications Preferred Licensure or other
certifications: Preferred Educational Requirements: A Masters
Degree (Nursing or other if possessing a BSN) within five (5)
years. Preferred Experience: Previous staff development and
education experience. Relevant clinical experience for specific
unit. Other: Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities Good interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written
communication skills. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment and
Computers. Effective organization skills. Good clinical knowledge
and skills as demonstrated by competency assessment. Ability to
teach and give verbal and written instruction in a comprehensive
manner. Maintains required certifications specific to unit
providing education. Previous knowledge of community resources,
data collection and analysis. Skills include: Proficiency in
computer use, oral and written communication, ability to
collaborate effectively as a team leader in a busy and growing
emergency services service line. Demonstrates ability to maintain
professional relationships in order to facilitate and assure the
success of the Emergency Services Service Line. Highly effective
interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to maintain
professional relationships to facilitate and assure the success of
the Emergency Services Service Line. Essential Tasks and
Responsibilities Serves as Subject Matter Expert for strategic
projects that span at the all campuses. Collaborates with emergency
department directors to ensure educational aspects meet the needs
for certification. Attends Emergency Department Round Table and
Morbidity and Mortality meetings across the Health System. Utilizes
the nursing process to assess, plan and evaluate patient care.
Guides students and staff in the development and implementation of
a interdivisional plan of care. Coordinates and streamlines all
Emergency Department Educational material, updating as needed and
ensuring it is aligned with newest evidence based practice
standards. Utilizes clinical expertise in assisting nursing staff,
students, and/or orientees with difficult or unusual procedures
Assists with orientation of new personnel; instructing and
supervising delivery of care as required Supports ongoing
certification needs for all departments including DNV, ACS, etc.
Provides impromptu instruction and demonstration of techniques,
products, and procedures Implements and monitors clinical
competency for dedicated units and service line entities Acts as
the point of contact, and supports all emergency department related
activity within the organizations simulation center. Facilitates
simulations within NGHS hospitals to support learning for nursing
staff as well as providers Assists and monitors the development,
implementation and compliance of clinical pathways. Assesses the
learning needs of patients and families; provides teaching as
indicated. Provides ongoing evaluation of effectiveness of teaching
and revision of interdivisional teaching plans as indicated.
Participates in appropriate hospital and community committees and
activities to assure relevant and accurate information is
communicated to all staff, physicians, and leaders. Evaluates the
effectiveness of patient care conferences, interdisciplinary
conferences and staff development programs given by staff. Provides
feedback to appropriate staff members and Nurse Manager or
Director. Conducts staff development programs frequently, which
includes updated best practices, simulation opportunities, and
overall education direction for units, incoming staff, and those
facilitating care within the Neuroscience Service Line Evaluates
the technical skills of staff nurses utilizing the skills checklist
and provides feedback to Nurse Manager or Director for performance
reviews. Supports quality assurance activities as demonstrated by
compliance with established PI standards/program and assistance
with monitoring or conducting chart review. Assists with
orientation of new personnel; instructing and supervising delivery
of care as required. Provides impromptu instruction and
demonstration of techniques, products and procedures. Effectively
prioritizes and executes tasks to produce high quality work with
minimal supervision. Successfully completes mentoring class.
Assists with mentoring of Registered Nurses when other mentor
resources have been assigned. May mentor more as desired. Supports
quality assurance activities as demonstrated by compliance with
established PI standards/program Participates in appropriate
hospital and community committees and activities to assure relevant
and accurate information is communicated to all staff and
department director Positive attitude towards change and the
ability to inspire and mentor others. Advocates for and utilizes
appropriate community resources for the patients' benefit.
Evaluates appropriateness of teaching material. Reviews/revises
annual class schedules, enlisting sufficient number of qualified
instructors Responsible for visibility/rounding at all Northeast
Georgia Medical Center emergency departments across the system.
