Role: Job Summary Provides clinical nutrition services, including
nutritional assessment, diet counseling, modified diet formulation,
and nutrition intervention for patients. Ensures patient
satisfaction, quality care, regulatory compliance and good public
relations are achieved in accordance with the population specific
guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals when
performing clinical duties. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or
other certifications: Registered by Commission for Dietetic
Registration. Registered by the state of Georgia. Educational
Requirements: Bachelor's degree for those registered prior to
January 1, 2024. Master's degree for those registered January 1,

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Language
skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific
and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
from groups of medical staff, healthcare professionals, managers,
clients, customers, and the general public Computer skills: Ability
to operate a standard computer, including basic use of MS
applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Mathematical

proportions, percentages, volume and apply basic algebra Reasoning

and draw valid conclusions Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Formulates and executes appropriate nutritional care of assigned
patients/residents. Assesses the nutritional status of the
pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient, as well as
neonates and infants as applicable, through documentation in the
medical record per hospital policies and state regulations.
Develops and revises a nutritional care plan based upon information
from the patient, medical record, family, and health care team
members for those patients who will benefit from Medical Nutrition
Therapy. Makes recommendations for patient care using current
evidence based practice. Plans regular and modified menus based
upon guidelines as outlined in the current diet manual and
communicates this information with the patient and/or family
members and health care team. Educates patient and/or family
members with appropriate nutritional education to expand their
knowledge of the patient's illness, promote recovery, and improve
function. Neonatal dietitian to assess and provide nutrition care
for NICU patients, including but not limited to the ordering and
managing of parenteral nutrition. Participates in assigned programs
to promote proper nutrition while maintaining commitment to
education and personal growth. Provides in-service education
programs to hospital staff, LTC staff, and food service staff as
appropriate. Participates in support groups, committees, teams,
etc. as indicated by areas of responsibility. Participates in and
attends departmental meetings, staff development, and professional
programs as appropriate. Seeks educational opportunities to
increase clinical competency, including age-specific nutritional
care, sufficient to meet requirements for licensure/registration.
Maintains effective written and verbal communication. Communicates
well with medical, nursing, and other health care team members
through charting and individual consultation. This includes
telephone, written, and electronic communication. Communicates
effectively with other Nutrition Services Staff members to help
coordinate clinical and Food Service for effective patient/resident
care. Completes all required documentation, reports and logs in a
timely, professional and thorough manner. Performs
Resource/Educator duties. May serve as a resource person for Food
Service Supervisor, Catering Associate, and Nutrition Services
staff as applicable. May orient, mentor, and train staff and
interns as applicable. May visit patients on an assigned nursing
unit or area as applicable, and helps to ensure that every patient
is visited by a member of the management or professional team at
least once during their hospital stay. Performs job correctly and
safely while observing the rules of conduct. Adheres to facility
confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.
Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state
and The Joint Commission as evidenced by successful completion of
surveys with no deficiencies. Follows facility and department
infection control policies and procedures and follows facility's
protocols for Hazardous Materials and Waste Program. Participates
in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program and
on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient
care. Bariatrics: Formulates and executes appropriate nutritional
counseling for pre-op and post-op bariatric patients. Other duties
