Job Description:
DescriptionJOB PURPOSE: Tends launderingmachines to clean
sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles
ofpatients. Loads articles in washer and adds specified amount of
detergent orother cleaning agents. Lifts clean, wet articles from
washer and places themsuccessively into wringer and dryer for
measured time cycles. Sorts dryarticles according to identification
numbers or type. Folds and places items inappropriate storage
bin.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Foldsand sorts laundry (blankets,
sheets, towels etc.) and personal clothing items2. Hangsclothes on
racks according to name and numbers.3. Deliverspatient/resident's
laundry to designated areas4. Ensuresthat patients/residents
clothes are ready to wear, not in disrepair and put inproper
place5. Understandsfunctions of various soaps and bleaches6.
Followsprecautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used7.
Washesand dries clothes and linens8. Keepsequipment clean and
follows cleaning schedules9. Maintainsa clean and organized area;
sweeps and mops laundry area10.--Reportsany needed repairs to
maintenance department11.--Operateslarge filters according to
established schedules12.--Ensuresproper handling of soiled laundry
items13.--Cleansand disinfects linen carts as required per policy
and procedure14.--Emptieswashers and dryers as
requested/necessary15.--Operateswater, gas, and electric cutoff
switches and valves16.--Understandsthe proper process for stain
removalQualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:HighSchool Degree
preferred.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:On-the-job
trainingprovidedMINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
