Substance Abuse Counselor
Treatment Team (ACT)
Community Treatment (ACT) is a highly intensive, outreached based,
out of clinic, service provided by a multidisciplinary team of
professionals. Population targeted is individuals who have serious
and persistent mental illness and some have a co-occurring
diagnosis of substance abuse. These are individuals who do not
typically come into a clinic setting for traditional treatment. The
ACT Team takes the treatment services to them in their homes,
shelters, sidewalks, etc.
are currently seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor for our ACT
Baldwin County site;
Mon- Fri 8:30a to 5:00p with 1-2 nights and 1-2 weekends on
Responsibilities: Provides a broad range of
paraprofessional social services to patients/clients/consumers and
their families, participates in treatment team planning, and
performs crisis intervention. Assists in dealing with personal and
social problems. May provide supportive counseling to consumers and
families and/or serve as a liaison for social services. May perform
case management duties, and group skills training with
assessment/evaluation as it pertains to substance use disorder(s)
and co-occurring needs.
- Provide individual counseling,
group/family counseling/training to clients seeking treatment for
substance use disorders.
insurance authorization documentation as required to ensure all
services are authorized.
- Document all
services the same day the service(s) were provided.
- Adhere to all
federal, state, and regulatory ethical/legal guidelines as a
substance abuse counselor.
Minimum Training &
Experience: High school diploma or GED and
two years' experience in a social services related position. OR
Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or
university in a social services related field (social work,
sociology, psychology, etc.).
Qualifications:MUST have a CACII
