Blue Bird Corporation is a billion dollar school bus manufacturer headquartered in Macon, GA with our manufacturing facilities located in Fort Valley, GA. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer who will be a key contributor to the manufacturing operations team.JOB SUMMARY:The Industrial Engineer solves problems confronting manufacturing performance, directly or indirectly, identifying Root Cause, implementing corrective actions, sustaining improvements and identifying support asrequired. They will work within the Manufacturing Operations organization and cross functionally across organizations to meet production schedules and maximize internal and external customer satisfaction.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiencyImprove overall efficiency of materials and logistics throughout the manufacturing production processProactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities throughout the companyo Utilize industrial engineering principles and techniques to validate recommended process modificationsManage and participate in 5S projectsDiscover opportunities for waste reduction and capacity improvement and proactively drive solutions with and without capital investmentFacilitate kaizen events targeting key improvements to drive productivity, data management/collection, and paperwork handling improvementsDevelop and implement systems and improvement strategies for direct material flow (in plant transport, inventory staging/access, and assembly line supply)Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, line setup, error proofing, assembly methods, etc.) to minimize downtime and reworkCoordinate equipment / process changes on assembly linesReview product documentation for accuracy and completeness (BOMs, Routers, Work Instructions, Assembly Drawings, Packaging Instructions, Component Drawings, Inspection Process Sheets, ).Create and manage production routers and MRB related rework processesIdentify issues and risks to ensure cost effective new product development and introduction into manufacturingPerform process/product capability studies as required to ensure reliability and maintainability of processesEvaluate overall capacity and identify bottleneck processes for potential improvementProvide support to production area managers with kaizens, JIT projects, and shop floor management activities to achieve task reductionsKNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six SigmaStrong process improvement and problem solving skillsEffective communication skills - both written and verbalDemonstrated analytical skillsTime management skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functionalApply problem solving skills to champion continuous improvement in work processesEncourage involvement and engage work force in improvement projects (product, process, safety...)Ensure processes satisfy internal production, safety, ISO, and quality goals and procedures set by managementUse computer assisted engineering and design software to review product schematics, drawings, and processesAbility to analyze data and process inputs to justifyStrong technical writing and change managementExcellent demonstrated organizational skills and a focus on timely delivery of specified deliverables' goalsand objectivesDemonstrated intellectual curiosity, ability, and willingness to multitask and prioritize projects given multiple opportunitiesKnowledge and training in Six Sigma, Lean Enterprise and Time/Motion study principles is essentialEDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:Bachelor's Degree (from accredited institution) in Industrial or other Engineering discipline required1-3 years of relevant professional experienceProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteExperience in manufacturing industry preferredSolidworks experience preferredWORK CONDITIONS:(The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
