FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY

Assistant or Associate Professor of Media Studies in the College of
Arts and Sciences Visual and Performing Arts/Media
FVSU, the only 1890 land-grant university in Georgia, is a
comprehensive institution that provides an education to over 2,800
students including graduate students. The university is located in
the town of Fort Valley in Peach County, the original site of the
state's peach industry. Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is
Georgia's second-largest public university in area.
The Department of Visual/Performing Arts and Media Studies offers a
broad-based liberal arts curriculum that balances theory, research,
professional practice and critical inquiry, and prepares students
to become innovative, professional, and ethical communicators ready
to thrive in a rapidly evolving field and industry. The department
offers programs in multimedia journalism, television and radio,
communication, and the performing arts. The department is dedicated
to excellence in the production and diffusion of knowledge and the
critical practice of media and the performing arts. It aims to
develop civically engaged and informed citizens capable of
reflecting on local and global issues. It strives to graduate
ethical scholars, artists, and professionals in the various

Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Media Studies is
interested in applicants ability to balance theory, research,
critical inquiry and journalistic production with strong emphasis
on new forms of multimedia, data journalism and digital innovation,
teach various undergraduate courses, and contribute to developing
curricula and programs in the department.
