of ICU RN experience License: Required Certifications: NIHSS, BLS,
ACLS required; CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Strong critical thinking
and assessment skills - Ability to manage invasive monitoring and
support - Proficient in managing vasoactive medications -
Experience with ventilator management - Competence in bedside
procedures such as chest tube placement and management Description:
This position is for an ICU RN. The facility has 637 licensed beds
and is a Level 1 trauma designation teaching hospital. The unit
comprises 14 beds with a maximum census of 14 patients. Patients in
the ICU typically present with conditions such as respiratory
failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension,
hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses.
Candidates will encounter chronically ventilated and tracheostomy
patients, as well as hemodynamically unstable patients requiring
close observation. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1-2
but can rarely be 3:1. Certified nursing assistants will be
available to assist with vital signs, glucose checks, feeding,
ambulation, and personal care tasks. A unit secretary will be
present from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., with a house-wide call secretary
available from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Other support includes a resource
nurse team, respiratory therapists available 24/7, and hospitalists
and intensivists on-site at all times. The unit utilizes advanced
technologies including an electronic medical record system and
various monitoring and medication dispensing devices. Floating may
occur to other adult ICU units within the facility. The unit
